This senryū is bordering on being just a pun, but I think it does safely go beyond being that – pairing ZZ plant and why is natural enough I’d argue because this does arise from a real observation about how neglect towards something that needs some conscious effort and attention dominoes into some big unintended and unfavorable consequence. But exploring why we neglect tending to important things is a can of worms because it is easy to say someone doesn’t care, but it is incredibly complicated to unravel the psychological landscape a person is living in to try to explain their decision, or indecisions.
